tanchooranda: Erm, no. Spiny dogfish are not found in our part of the world; they inhabit temperate waters. Besides, it looks nothing like a spiny dogfish.

This is a bamboo shark, most probably the species known as the slender bamboo shark:

Besides, dogfish ARE sharks, so I honestly think you have no idea what you're talking about.

That is not a shark, but a member of the family Squalidae, commonly known as a dogfish. It is found mostly in shallow waters and further offshore in most parts of the world, especially in temperate waters.

Males mature at around 11 years of age, growing to 80–100 cm (2.6–3.3 ft) in length; females mature in 18–21 years and are slightly larger than males, reaching 98.5–159 cm (3.23–5.2 ft).

For further information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiny_dogfish.

Usually people will release such catch back to the sea. But in S'pore some ppl like to torture it and left it to die under the sun.

This is stupid killing. There are many species if sharks, and there are those that do not grow to become massive like the Great White.
