The lawyers of former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay have issued a statement saying that their client firmly believes that he is not corrupt. He was charged in court on Tuesday, with four counts of corruption involving sex with a woman seeking government contracts.

Ng's lawyers, Senior Counsel Tan Chee Meng and Ms Melanie Ho of WongPartnership, issued a statement saying: "As we had indicated in Court, Boon Gay will be contesting the charges. Personal indiscretions aside, Boon Gay firmly believes he is not a corrupt officer."‬ 

The 46-year-old is accused of obtaining sexual gratification from Ms Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, who was an employee of two IT vendors between June and December last year. The IT vendors are Oracle and Hitachi Data Systems.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said in a statement that the trysts were apparently in exchange for helping to 'further the business interests of the relevant IT vendor, in respect of that vendor's dealings with CNB'.

Ng arrived in a taxi at the Subordinate Courts at 8.50am with his wife and lawyers. His bail is set for $10,000 and his next court date is on June 26.

His charges come a one week after former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) commissioner Peter Lim was charged with 10 counts under the the Prevention of Corruption Act in a similar, but separate sex-for-contracts corruption case.

Lim was also accused of receiving sexual favours in exchange for helping three women further their business dealings with the SCDF.

The CPIB arrested Ng and Lim last December and January this year respectively. They were suspended from duty from Jan 25.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said last week that it was reviewing two contracts linked to the case involving Lim, even though they were awarded according to procurement rules.

Former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) chief Peter Lim was charged in court on Wednesday of having corruptly obtained sexual gratification from three women as inducement for showing favour by advancing the business interest of their companies with SCDF.
