Motorcyclist thrown 30m off bike in Bayfront Link accident

A motorcyclist was flung about 30 metres away from his bike after he was involved in an accident with a car at a junction at Bayfront Link this morning (Jun 9), reports STOMPer Mohd Bathshah.

The STOMPer wrote:

"A foreigner who was attempting to turn right at Bayfront Link hit a motorcycle at around 11.45am this morning (Jun 9).

"If I'm not wrong, he failed to give way to the rider and proceeded to turn right, thus hiting the motorcycle and causing the rider to be flung about 30m away from his bike.

"When I went over to help the rider, I saw that a few of his teeth were broken and that he sufferred a really serious injury to his right leg.

"We didn't move the rider to the side of the road as we didn't want to make his injuries any worst.

"The impact of the accident was quite big -- some part of the motorcycle flew quite far from the main body as well.

"We stayed there until the ambulance came and take him to the hospital."

Fatfoodie: if any "kindhearted" driver did have a camera, they didn't stick around to lend assistance to a human being lying in the road. Don't assume you know what happened and it was driver's fault either

Hope that some kind hearted persons who had recorded the video of the accident can share the video and show that the car driver is at fault and the authorities will take serious action against the car driver

priscillajfwong: as a motorbike rider and cyclist (and car driver) myself... you can massively reduce the risks if you ride carefully, considerately and defensively. That is what 2b license is all about. This guy quite simply was not. Not to say the car driver is blameless, but given how vulnerable you are on a bike/motorbike you really have to take responsibility for your own safety

I am glad this poster helped, along with the MBS security guy (blue jacket), my friend (check shirt) and me (cream shirt). Lots of people taking pictures though, and all of the cars that saw the whole thing just drove off. My favourite though was the guy who lost patience and drove over the warning triangle that I got out of the crashed car and put up

Serious compound fracture to right femur, but conscious throughout; hopefully on the mend

All I will say is that people should not be too quick to blame the driver of the car in this case: the poster's impression was not mine. I drive a car and ride a motorobike and it was a good reminder for me in both cases to be more vigilant
