Alex Ong, the man who pushed an old lady off the bus in a 'fit of anger', has confessed that his inability to get a job in the past six months had contributed to emotional instability.
STOMPer wayne feels that his reasons were insufficient to justify treating an old lady this way.
According to a report in The Straits Times (8 June), the 25-year-old who had pushed an old lady off the bus has given a statement to the police.
He was told then had it not been his show of remorse at the scene on Tuesday and his having some 'psychological issues', he would definitely have been charged.
He also disclosed that he was struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression and autism.
The STOMPer says:
"The old lady, aged 76, might have accepted his apology, but many Singaporeans like me feel that Alex is merely making excuses.
"Just because he is unable to get a job, it doesn't mean that he should be blaming the society.
"Despite his attempts to defend himself, it just sounds like he's trying to push the blame.
"And that was certainly more like a painful shove, than a mere push! Poor old lady."
