World-renowned French fashion designer Roland Mouret has voiced his dismay over what he described as poor fashion sense of the Singaporeans. STOMPer Fashionista feels that Mouret should not single out Singaporeans as every country has its fair share of fashion disasters.
The 50-year-old designer who is a creator of the figure-hugging galaxy dress and a favourite of Victoria Beckham and Kate Middleton remarked that Singaporeans' fashion sense is 'shocking' when he was in town for the Audi Fashion Festival.
He said, "I see quite a lot of fashion disasters in this hotel (where I was staying), especially on men -- the wrong shorts with the flip-flops."
He added that the republic should ensure that hotel guests adhere to a proper dress code.
The STOMPer wrote:
"He shouldn't stereotype Singaporeans just because of the few black sheep that he saw in his hotel.
"Young Singaporeans do make an effort to dress well as can be seen along Orchard Road."
Even Singapore celebrities get criticized for their poor fashion sense. Just recently, the first instalment of the Star Awards raised many eyebrows because of the numerous fashion fails amongst the stars.
