Is this protecting sharks? NTUC stops sales of shark fin but not shark meat

STOMPer Save Sharks noted that NTUC FairPrice still had shark meat on sale even after they removed shark fin from their shelves, and feels this weakens their claim about protecting sharks.

The STOMPer says:

"NTUC made a promise to keep sharks fin off the shelf.

"However, today I captured a photo of shark meat on the shelf.

"While NTUC has not broken their promise of not selling sharks fins, is it right to to continue selling shark meat if they claim to protect sharks?"

Don't you get the point of this post? If they still sell shark meat, it is still killing sharks to get the meat, and this completely goes against their vow of not killing sharks, so this picture aims to call them liars. Easy enough, and i am sad to see so many people misinterpret it

To IDIOTIC STOMPER SAVE SHARKS:
do you read...do you know whats the reason of banning selling of shark's fins...its because the fishermen catches sharks, sliced off their fins and throw them back into the sea...leaving them to die just for their fins...but in this case...they are selling the shark meat and now I don't see any *****ing problem with that..so whats your *****ing problem

Yes shark finning is cruel, so go after those cruel fisherman. Why go after shark fin eater? Is this an easier option for those so-called shark protectors??? Why didn't these same animal lovers also ban eating foie gras with huge scale campaign as the feeding method is also very cruel!!!

The practice of shark finning is cruel. But catching the whole shark is fine. Not cruel at all. If deemed cruel, stop eating fish. Especially bluefin tuna. Their numbers are also dwindling.

Woodsbury: Your analogy is so stupidly wrong that I don't even know where to begin pointing out how flawed it is, except that tiger prawns aren't made from tiger body parts.

Many countries now have laws stating that shark finning is banned, meaning that sharks caught at sea have to be landed intact, not with the fins hacked off and the rest of the shark tossed overboard. This ideally means that fewer sharks are killed, since boats and ships have limited space to store whole carcasses. But there's also the problem of whether current rates of fishing are still too high to be sustainable in the long term.

As far as I know, NTUC FairPrice stated that it would stop selling shark fin, but didn't say anything about shark meat. Now Cold Storage, on the other hand, stated that it would stop selling all shark products, so if anyone ever sees shark meat for sale at Cold Storage, then it is something noteworthy.
