Sighting of 'King Kong' at AMK revealed to be promo for Zoo event

A recent sighting of a person dressed in a monkey costume at the Ang Mo Kio MRT Station has been revealed by STOMPer David Adrian to be part of a viral marketing campaign by the Singapore Zoo.

The Zoo released a video online last Thursday (May 10) that showed several other mascots decked in costumes of different monkeys, including the one seen by a STOMPer two weeks ago (May 02), trying to make their way to the Mandai enclosure.

The campaign was promoting an event called Primate Affair 2012, to be held during the school holiday period in June, at the Singapore Zoo.

The STOMPer wrote:

"I had read an article on STOMP sometime ago named ''King Kong' invades AMK MRT station...with plastic bag and umbrella in hand', which I thought was funny.

"I was going to post up a photo after I saw a chimpanzee queuing for a taxi at Lucky Plaza but thought it was the same 'sighting' so I didn't.

"Two nights ago (May 13), I saw this funny video on YouTube and everything finally made sense.

"I should have realized that all this 'monkeying around' had something to do with the Zoo!

"It's really, REALLY cute!"
