STOMPer Mexxania was frustrated by the large crowds at Yishun MRT station today (May 9). She only managed to board the seventh train. She hopes that SMRT increases the number of trains in the morning.
STOMPer said:
"Yishun MRT station was overcrowded today at 7.35am.
"The platform was crowded with commuters waiting to board the train.
"Every train was full and it was nearly impossible to board commuters.
"This almost caused accidents near the escalator as commuters has little room at the platform.
"There were no train staff to guide or control the crowd near the escalator.
"Adding to this, I only managed to board the seventh oncoming train!
"The North-South line has a huge number of commuters, especially at Yishun and Ang Mo Kio stations.
"I would like to urge SMRT to bring back the empty trains that used to run from 7.30am so as to ease the overcrowding issue.
"The empty train in between the crowded trains would be able to load many commuters at one go.
"This would definitely solve the overcrowding problem.
"I urge SMRT to look into this seriously!
"Please improve your service and do the necessary planning because you are serving millions of commuters every day!"
