Betty Yu turns heads wherever she goes with her pretty face and svelte 38-28-38 vital statistics. She is no sweet young thing however, but a 50-year-old mother of two children.
According to a report in the New Paper, 30 people randomly approached by the paper unanimously agreed that Madam Yu did not look her age. Madam Yu is also fun, full of confidence, easy-going and jovial, and this winning personality adds to her good looks.
The gorgeous mother was also recently crowned Classic Mrs Singapore Tourism 2012 and Classic Mrs Singapore 1st Runner-Up 2012.
Despite all this, Madam Yu insists that she is not exceptionally beautiful. She says: "As a woman, it's important to have confidence. The competition pressured me to look good. There was a goal to work towards."
Behind Madam Yu's good looks, however, is a tragic life story. When she was single, Madam Yu ran several businesses and lived the high life, travelling the world and indulging in ballroom dancing, horse-riding and golf. Shortly after giving birth to her second son however, Madam Yu's husband was involved in an accident and became paralysed from the neck down.
The family's savings were wiped out because of her husband's hefty medical bills, and they had to sell off their private apartment in the east. Madam Yu now lives in a four-room HDB flat.
Despite these setbacks, Madam Yu picked herself up and moved on. She says joining the Miss Tourism competition gave her a new lease of life.
