Heavy rain at Changi Village causes tree to topple onto car

Heavy rain and lightning at Changi Village today (May 6) resulted in more than one tree toppling over. One of those trees hit a nearby car, badly damaging it.

Said STOMPer MC:

"This happened at Changi Village May 6, at aroound 11am.

"When my father and I decided to go back home we saw a lightning strike and the tree landed on the floor.

"Luckily it did not crash onto the car, but unfortunately it blocked one of the car."

Another car, however, was not so lucky, as STOMPer Kelvin said:

"Heavy rain resulted in the tree being uprooted in Changi Village.

"Is it considered "act of god" which means the driver cannot claim anything?"

Photos of the incident were sent in by STOMPers MC, Kelvin, Hajar, and Wayne.

We been telling the morons to construct a multi-storey car park just oppo the changi village ferry terminal but fell on deaf ears, at least will not be any trees falling on the cars due to heavy rains & weaken root structure that the NParks had failed to detect. This time the authorities has to do something or let us park illegally as we do not want to dine there & return back to find our cars buried under a tree.I rather pay hundred of dollars in fine rather than to loose my car to incompetent morons.

We play hide & seek everyday with wardens at changi village. Not that we do not want to pay,we got no parking space for our car.Reason with certiscisco warden is of no use.We told to park the car at the car parks here or go other place but not to park illegally. So for this drivers whose cars were damaged for parking legally in the one of the car parks because some trees fell on them, while the owner has to comply parking laws.URA & Ramk has to compensate the owners in the way, due to their actions in compelling motorists to park inside the car parks.

actually, I really think this should not be classified an "Act of God".

The act of God is the lightning, and water falling from the sky, raining, as we know it.. but the cause from a result of the Act of God is not directly Acted by God.

If a man were to walk and get struck by lightning, then yes, it is an Act of God, but this case leads me to believe that it is an "Act of poor planting of trees".
