Dazzlingly bright mystery object in evening sky: Is it a meteor or UFO?

STOMPer SLYX was intrigued by this brilliantly bright object that appeared in the sky on the evening of May 4. He says it appeared much larger than the moon.

The STOMPer relates the sighting:

"What is this?

"I took a photo of it at 7.40pm.

"Could it be a UFO, a meteorite or perhaps just an extraordinarily huge moon?"
