Believe it or not, these people throw mobile phones to promote recycling

Participants launch cellphones into the air as part of the annual mobile phones throwing competition, an initiative started to promote recycling old phones.

The competition was started in 2000 to promote recycling phones, and has been held every year in different locations ever since.

Participants throw mobile phones and are judged on distance or technique.

The grand prize for winning the world championship is a new mobile phone.

Said STOMPer Seth:

"What a light-hearted way to promote recycling.

"Although I think throwing old Nokia phones would be alright.

"I wonder if people can bring themselves to throw newer touchscreen phones."
