STOMPer Prowl was impressed by the effectiveness of the Taser as a weapon after reading in the newspaper about how police officers used it to subdue a man who threatened to kill himself at Toa Payoh Lorong 7 on Monday (Apr 23).
According to a report on The New Paper, the man, who was believed to be drunk, was seen wielding a parang with a 30cm-long blade and hacking away at a dustbin, before turning the blade on himself.
When the police arrived at the scene, the man was in an agitated state still and threatened to 'only kill myself', thus prompting the officers to stun him with the Taser gun.
The man went to ground instantly, allowing the officers to handcuff him before sitting him down on a chair borrowed from a Shop nearby.
The STOMPer felt that no loss of lives is essential in any situation, like this, and was glad the Taser helped to ensure that when he wrote:
"The Taser gun is really a technological marvel, enabling law enforcers to combat and subdue any threat without wounding the subjects.
"If this had happened 10 years ago, the authorities may have had to use their firearm, which may result in unthinkable consequences completely different from that of yesterday where a successful arrest was made without harm to anyone.
"The electroshock gun certainly helped prevent any potential bloodshed in a tense situation as shown on Monday and for that, I think it may be one of the best additions to the police force in recent times."

Many more to come.
Tasers enable officers to uphold their pledge to "protect life and property".
From your comment about the effectiveness of tasers, it is immediately obvious that you don't actually know much about them. Don't call others stupid when you are making a fool of yourself too by that comment, because if you actually bother to find out, tasers are certainly not 100% effective each time they are fired, nor are they successful in subduing every individual. The joke's on you now.
