Keep up the good work! Friendly bus driver gets tribute video from commuter

When commuters come across a bus driver who's diligent and friendly, they usually reciprocate a smile or maybe write a commendation letter to the operator. STOMPer Afiq went a step further -- by making a tribute video of one such driver.

The 45-second video shows the bus driver, who goes on a looping route on bus service number 183 from Jurong East bus interchange, in his element -- greeting passengers when they board and thanking those who alight.

STOMPer Afiq decided to produce this video as he felt bus drivers are sometimes perceived as people who couldn't care less for the commuters they serve, and that the video will be a good 'example for other bus drivers out there to follow'

The STOMPer wrote:

"I'm sending in a video, that I shot recently, about a very friendly and courteous bus driver who greets passengers everytime they board and alight his bus.

"Some people often look down on bus drivers for being people who are very sad and can't care less for the many passengers that goes in and out of their vehicles.

"Well, not for this driver. This SBS Transit bus driver was spotted greeting all the passengers onboard the bus and smiling away. He drives a Scania K230UB on Service 183 which runs from the Jurong East Interchange to Science Park via Clementi.

"This short video, in a form of a short ad, is a tribute to the great service that bus drivers render to society. Without them, there would be no buses and with no buses, we wouldn't be able to get to work and if we couldn't get to work, work could not be done and with work not done, our little island nation will not progress.

"This is rare and it should be an example for other bus drivers out there to follow.

"Salute to all bus drivers out there! Please feel free to share this with your friends and peers!"

STOMP is preparing the video and will post it here as soon as it is ready.

This driver really made my day too, I've been in his bus. He's a great driver, no sudden brakes, gentle and very friendly! Speaks good English too, seems to be enjoying his work.

You can't even hold the camera properly. Such a shaky video. Who knows if the driver see you taking the video try act nice. Or the driver is your friend?

I also experienced from SBS Transit Bus Captains who greet passengers, rather artificially. Their greetings are repetitive and loud, mostly without eye contacts and so frequent to alighting and boarding passengers that it becomes a noise and nuisance. Greetings need not always be verbal. Give a smile or wave is sufficient, as what we do at work place.
