Users of a DBS ATM at Clarke Quay were surprised when they were issued receipts with smiley faces printed on it after withdrawing money.
These smiley faces are printed by default whenever a printer encounters an error, reported my paper.
A DBS spokesperson also told the paper that it was an isolated case of printer malfunction at an ATM and has no implication on a customer's account or banking transactions.
STOMPer Fuzz, who came across the news said:
"I would be surprised if I received print-outs from an ATM with smiley faces on it.
"Did someone tamper with the machine, is it a new service approach, is it a PR stunt, I would think.
"In this case, it's neither, but just a default way for the printer to tell you, 'I am not okay, please fix me!'
"Maybe they should incorporate this service with a smile onto real receipts to show a friendly face to customers instead of a boring receipt.
"So cute!"
Trust me, I'm an engineer.
