Mystery of Bedok Reservoir deepens: Body found believed to be that of missing man

SCDF has retrieved the body of a man that was seen floating in Bedok Reservoir this morning (Oct 10). The body is believed to be that of the man who went missing after swimming in the reservoir on Saturday afternoon.

According to the report in The New Paper today (Oct 10), the missing man, believed to be an Indian in his 30s, disappeared after jumping into the water on Saturday.

SCDF said it received a call at 8.46am today, informing them of a floating body spotted at Bedok Reservoir. Upon their arrival at the scene, a body was seen floating near the shore and was retrieved by SCDF officers.

The male casualty was pronounced dead by an SCDF paramedic at 9.22am.

Police said in response to a STOMP query:

"On Oct 10, at about 8.35am, police were informed that a body was found floating in Bedok Reservoir.

"The body belongs to that of Indian man in his early 30s, who is believed to be the same person who was seen in the waters of Bedok Reservoir on Oct 8.

"Police are investigating the unnatural death."

This is the fourth case of strange deaths and disappearances that have been happening in Bedok Reservoir. On Sept 22, the bodies of a mother and son were seen floating in the reservoir.

On June 22, the lower half of Mr Lin Xiao's body was found floating in the water by a PUB employee.

And in October last year, the body of an unidentified man was found at the top of a hill in Bedok Reservoir Park.

STOMPer MysteryMan, who read the article, is concerned about the strange happenings at Bedok Reservoir.

He said: "Four cases in four months. It could purely be coincidental, but it's still very scary!

"Why are all these strange things happening at Bedok Reservoir?"

With regard to the latest case, a Bangladeshi worker told The New Paper that the man who went missing could be an Indian worker from his company.

THis is madness. It was a faze to jump on the mrt tracks in the past, and now the reservoir? Very silly act, which brings miseries to their living kin and inconvenience to everyone else.

May they get a better life next.

@cunexttuesday stop talking nonsense. Perhaps you are the outcome of such water. Bedok reservoir is a nice place. The water is perfectly alright because dead fishes is exactly like dead human body and those staying in the region has been drinking it since the reservoir is there. Continue to jog at the track.

In comparison, activities like washing cars in open air car parks, dumping wastewater (detergent!) into backlane drains, or spitting in drains are not much better. The water eventually goes to the reservoirs...

Luckily water from reservoirs will be treated before supply...
