JB security so bad that kopitiam cashier has to work from locked room

Have things in Johor Bahru really become so bad that cashiers have to be sealed away in a perspex cubicle for fear of being robbed? STOMPer ExRobber was surprised to spot this at a kopitiam across the Causeway.

The STOMPer commented:

"These pictures were taken as I was eating my lunch at a coffee shop at Gelang Patah in Johor.

"I noticed that the waitress had to pay money collected from customers to a cashier who was seated in a sealed room with a perspex window.

"I asked the waitress why the cashier must be 'imprisoned' in a locked room and she said that recently there was a spate of robberies at the coffee shop and the boss decided that the cashier must be protected.

"He even installed CCTV and alarms in the shop to deter potential  robbers.

"I felt rather unsafe dining in a 'cowboy town' where robberies are so common.

"We must be thankful that in Singapore we can dine with peace of mind in any coffee shop.'

What's so big deal? And for those who are so surprise to see this and start to describe how scary JB is and how safe Singapore is compared to, why don't u compare Singapore to Bronx of new York or Detroit ? a locked cashier so big deal ?.. How about the protection screen u can see in the US and Australia's taxi?? In the case of corruption, for all drivers either Malaysian / Singaporean, stop paying the officers (police/custom) bribes even if they ask for it, just pay the fine or the summons because if you keep paying they will keep asking so don't complaint!

They should, just like the states.. either you lock yourself up in bullet proof cashier counter or they arm themselves with guns, but of cos I never understand the logic of keeping it safe while guns can be bought so easily...

Ya Singapore is the safest,
So don't go anywhere just hide n die in Singapore.
Every country has crooks n robbers, don't just judge by one negative news.
Who can be 100% sure you would never get rob in Singapore ?
Low crime doesn't mean no crime.
