Have things in Johor Bahru really become so bad that cashiers have to be sealed away in a perspex cubicle for fear of being robbed? STOMPer ExRobber was surprised to spot this at a kopitiam across the Causeway.
The STOMPer commented:
"These pictures were taken as I was eating my lunch at a coffee shop at Gelang Patah in Johor.
"I noticed that the waitress had to pay money collected from customers to a cashier who was seated in a sealed room with a perspex window.
"I asked the waitress why the cashier must be 'imprisoned' in a locked room and she said that recently there was a spate of robberies at the coffee shop and the boss decided that the cashier must be protected.
"He even installed CCTV and alarms in the shop to deter potential robbers.
"I felt rather unsafe dining in a 'cowboy town' where robberies are so common.
"We must be thankful that in Singapore we can dine with peace of mind in any coffee shop.'
