Geraldine had trouble understanding certain concepts in school. Her best friend was the only one who bothered to explain everything to her.

Geraldine said:

"From strangers to best friends - maybe even closer.

"I can classify her as part of my family, her presence in my life moulded our friendship to where we are today.

"8 years of friendship is neither considered long nor short.

"But the moments, memories with her were definitely something money couldn’t buy.

"We make sweet memories together because it will be forever and no one can take them away.

"I shall keep it short and sweet just like how our friendship is.

"Looking back at the times during secondary school, I really hated her.

"And now she is someone so close to me.

"What causes the change? To be honest, I don’t have the answer.

"I don’t know how and when the spark started for our friendship, but it really just happened.

"Things just happened naturally without us knowing, but there is one thing I believe that can change everything- 'time'.

"How time changes everything is not one could understand with just one sentence, but through years and years of hard work we went through.

"I got to know her better when I was in my sec 3 /4 days, where we stuck to each other almost every single day.

"From the morning, till school ends, and sometimes till late in the night when we have night lessons.

"I have the tendency to understand things slower than others, she took her time and explained everything to me till I got it right.

"Some others would just gave me the cold shoulder and say 'Go do it yourself, never listen in class, how stupid!' or some would just give up after explaining to me.

"But it didn’t happen to her, she was there to explain, to teach me till I understood.

"She motivated and encouraged me despite my failures.

"I believe everyone has gone through times, when you put in so much effort but results reflect otherwise.

"I felt like giving up at that point of time, but she stood by me.

"She said this, 'When I feel like giving up, remember why I held on for so long in the first place, failure is always the key to success'.

During our polytechnic years, though we were in different schools, different courses, she still gave me all the support I needed.

"Till now, whenever I encounter difficulties she would always motivate me and ask me to face them with guts.

"As time passed, she became close to me and my family too.

"She is such a wonderful girl.

"She is definitely someone who gives me a shoulder to lean on, a pair of ears to listen and lastly a heart for me to comfort when I am feeling sad.

"To end of, I would like to quote this phrase I found online which is meaningful.

"Together forever, never apart. Maybe in the distance, but never in the heart.”
