STOMPer Keith thinks there is a spelling error on this sign on a stall selling snacks at the F1 event last weekend. The STOMPer feels that such errors are unacceptable in a world class event.
In his email dated Sep 28:
"This was taken at the F1 Singapore Nightrace that happened last weekend. It shows a sign board used by a stall selling snacks.
"Can you spot the serious spelling error?
"I pointed out that there was a spelling mistake on the board and the stallkeeper was perplexed about my comment.
"This is very embarassing. By hosting the F1 nightrace, we are putting our country on the world map. Such spelling errors are unacceptable.
"This reminds me of an email which I received in the past, showing sign boards from a chinese educated country with grammatical errors due to direct translation from Chinese.
"We are from an English educated society. How can such mistakes be made?"
Assuming that Keith is referring to the spelling of 'titbits', STOMP has found that there is actually no mistake.
According to the dictionary, 'titbit' can also be spelt as 'tidbit'. The word refers to a 'tasty, small piece of food'.
