What's 12 x (28 - 12) again? O-level Physics book has mathematical boo-boo

STOMPer Skywalker came across an error in a Physics ten-year-series book while studying for the O-level examinations.

Said Skywalker:

"Hi to the people at Stomp!

"As you know now is the period for examinations, I was studying for my Physics exam when I came across this extremely elementary mistake in the answers by the publishers.

"This book is an O-level book containing past years' O-level questions and I expected the publisher to have spotted such an obvious mistake.

"I am sure even a Primary School kid would have spotted it."

@Brendan, Who said Primary school kids can't solve this? BODMAS rule is taught in P4. And that is the knowledge to solve this equation.

Dear Skywalker,

Thank you for using our PGOL Physics 2002-2010. We appreciate your feedback and have looked into this.

We have found a typo error on page 231 Q2(a) and (c). The correct solution should be as follows:

2(a) Distance = area under graph
= 12 x (28 – 12) = 192 m

2(c) Last sentence: Since 150 m < 192 m, the car does not reach the end of the town at the end of 30 s.

Many thanks for your effort in highlighting this to us and we will certainly rectify the mistakes before the next reprint.

Shows that don't depend on the solutions! Do it yourself, believe in yourself! Humans are not perfect, unless stomper is god.

Good, at least there is something to blame at in case you don't get a good grade.

I think this post gives us a lot to reflect about. All the stompers here are saying that no one is perfect and this is a small matter. But imagine if you are a student and you make this simple mistake. You would be scolded by you teachers, parents etc.. So we have much to reflect....

So publishers are expected to not make simple mistakes? I find it redundant for you to post one minor mistake here. Not only are you implying that publishers have no rights to making elementary errors, you are also merely making a mountain out of a molehill. Just accept the fact that everyone makes mistakes at some point in their lives and learn not to whine so much. The time you spent sending this article to STOMP, and perhaps even on reading negative comments such as this, can be put into better use on studies or leisure activities. A word of advice: please don't attract negative publicity.
