Books are focal point of this Bishan flat

40-year-old homemaker Marie and her family are such avid readers that they have an entire wall of their living room filled with bookshelves and even that is not enough for their ever-growing book collection.

Marie has been living in her five-room Bishan flat with her husband and three sons for the past three years and they inherited the broken marble flooring from the previous owner.

"With the help of an interior designer, we picked up the tones from the floor, which was pinkish and reddish hues and decorated our home accordingly," said the STOMPer.

"We are quite inspired by the Scandinavian look and design of homes, that one usually sees in IKEA catalogues.

"The bookshelves are the key feature of our home and even then we do not have enough space for all our books.

"The collection is ever-growing and we have to store some of our books in the bedrooms now."

One of the family's favourite haunts is Japanese book franchise Kinokuniya.
