When STOMPer Teo approached the person in charge of a large construction crane that blocked a road at Jurong East for almost an hour, the man only replied, 'bo pian' (no choice).
Said the STOMPer:
"I would like to complain with regard to this crane company, Hiap Tong.
"They blocked the road along Blk 329 Jurong East Ave 1 on 4 Jan 2012, from 8.15am to 9.05am.
"It caused a jam and vehicles could not pass through.
"When I approached the person-in-charge, he told me 'no choice. (bo pian)'
"Hope the relevant authorities can look into this matter that caused much inconvenience, and dish out the appropriate action to the relevant party."
STOMPer FA also wrote in about the incident. He said:
"The lift upgrading developer for blocks 329-332 Jurong East Avenue 1 thought it was a good idea to move a mobile crane during the morning peak hours. They thought wrong.
"A mechanical fault to the mobile crane caused the crane to be immobile across the only entrance/exit of the carpark between 8 to 9.30am on Wednesday morning.
"Residents were seen leaving for work in cabs. Others who could afford to be late for work, turned back and returned home. A few disgruntled residents continued to wait at the scene.
"The questions in residents’ minds were:
"(1) Why did they have to mobilise such an operation during the morning peak hour? There is always a risk that something will go wrong. Activities such as these should be done during off-peak hours.
"(2) Who’s responsible for the poor planning/scheduling? Are they willing to compensate?
"A quirky/tongue-in-cheek comment heard from the ground: 'Train got disruption, carpark also got disruption.'"
