Heavy vehicle with barely-visible brake and signal lights a danger to motorists

STOMPer Alex was concerned that this heavy vehicle's brake and signal lights are caked in mud and barely visible, even in the day. He was also worried for the safety of other road users as it seems the driver was not driving safely.

The STOMPer says (Aug 28):

"This heavy vehicle's brake and signal lights are covered with mud and almost invisible in bright daylight.

"Furthermore, one side is burnt out.

"This driver was driving recklessly along Marine Parade Road in the central area where there is heavy vehicle and human traffic.

"How does the Land Transport Authority pass such vehicles?

"Other vehicles which are behind it may not be able to see the brake light in time due to poor visibility of the light."

how do you see the brake from that angle. And these are heavy construction vehicles. Definitely their brakes are designed to handle this.

As suggested, yes don't drive that close. Sometimes, no choice, if you have to carry all the construction loads, I doubt your car will be in tip-top shape.

Send this photo to LTA & TP for enforcement of required vehicle conditions when they are travelling on the roads.

its an everyday occurrence of driving. just be on the lookout. there are even vehicles with all brake lights not working or blown out....seen them before and better check yours regularly.
