STOMPer Economist feels this sign on the road at Bukit Batok is a waste of paint. He suggests other solutions to stop motorists from parking illegally.
The STOMPer wrote in an email (Aug 8):
"This picture was taken at the road in front of the coffee shop at Bt Batok St 25.
"There is a single continuous white line in the middle of the road and usually patrons park on one side for a few minutes to buy their drinks or cigarettes before driving off.
"Last week some workers came to paint along the road the red letters 'NO WAITING' and also the logo to forbid waiting.
"In a few months' time the paint will be gone as the road is subject to heavy usage by garbage trucks.
"A better solution would be to put up a signboard with the words 'NO WAITING' on both ends of the road.
"If the town council wants to catch the freeloaders then why not put up a barrier arm at the entrance to the HDB estate?
"No motorist will then be able to escape parking for the fees will be deducted when they leave the carpark."
