Reckless driver changes lanes without signaling and nearly causes accident

STOMPer Yoke Lau says this reckless driver didn’t signal when changing lanes and nearly caused an accident.

In an email to STOMP today (Oct 19), the STOMPer says:

“This incident took place last night at around 8:30pm. It started while we were driving from Sembawang. However, I only started filming him along Yishun Ave 6.

“It is so inconsiderate when people don't signal when they drive.

“This guy kept swerving in and out of our lane.

“After he nearly hit our car, I started to film him. We pressed our horn to give him a warning, and then he slowed down while driving in front of us.

“This guy was so reckless. His driving was bad and he also had young kids in his car.”

Singapore law prohibits handphone driving. This includes driving with one hand holding a mobile phone and communicating with another person on that phone while the vehicle is in motion. Paging or texting with a handphone, dialing a phone number or pressing a button to receive a call while holding the handphone are also against the law. According to the Singapore Police Force, handphone driving distracts drivers and threatens other people driving and walking on the road. Penalties vary, but for a first time conviction, the convicted may be docked 12 demerit points, receive a fine of up to $1000 (as of 2010), be imprisoned for up to six months, or have his driving license taken. Upon conviction, the police may take his handphone and SIM card for investigation until the court trial. The traffic police should look for you.

After he had cut into yr lane, you high beam once.. i think that is enough, but you followed up with a second high beam. What was yr intention? If i were you, i would just jeep my distance or overtake him. you feel better with the high beam? You are stressing yrself or you hardly got chance to drive on the road.

I agree with IAm477423.
Whenever I see a TOYOTA (whatever model), I stay far away behind, or overtake quickly. These Toyota drivers are UNIVERSALLY notorious in SG. EVERYONE knows this fact! Besides, to the poster; WHY follow when you can see there is obstruction on the left lane? The car on that lane is likely to take evasive action without signalling - due likely to yakking on the phone.
