'I would have become a casualty if I turned into path of driver who beat red light'

A reckless driver who beat a red light at a seemingly fast pace at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and 6 last night (Aug 31) infuriated STOMPer helloitsredlight! as she could have turned into the path of the oncoming car.

The STOMPer wrote:

"At around 11.25pm on Aug 31, I was driving and waiting to turn right at a traffic junction between Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 & 6.

"The amber light was on for about three seconds before it turned red when suddenly, a red car emerged & beat the red light.

"Had I not checked and made sure that the oncoming traffic had stopped (or at least slowed down) before I accelerate,

"I would've become a casualty of another traffic accident caused by reckless driving!

"I have a question for all stompers/drivers -- if you are in the same situation, and managed to video-record the car plate license of the vehicle, what will you do? Or rather, what can you do?

"Are there any authorities out there that we can report this incident to?"

Hey stomper helloitsredlight. Helloooo?! Of course u hv to check for any oncoming car before u drive off! That's basic driving knowledge & skill! If u really mean that sometimes u just look at traffic lights/rules & ASSUME ur right of way to go ahead, then that'll be really reckless! That's why certain drivers don't think "Safety First" but "My Rights First". Then after that blame others. And why's that? "Bcos I don't care as long it's my right!" That's totally wrong mindset! So which one more important? U & ur family's life or ur rights? We can't control others driving recklessly but we can control our own alertness & driving skills! Drive safe!

Use a better DVR next time, i doubt you can see the car plate at that speed with that quality.

the driver did had some fault which include failure to slow down and maybe speeding. however driving instructor did said before if at traffic light you cannot stop in time at amber you might have to go through it.
from the video yeah the driver is at fault. cause i believe traffic light always had a few second of safety buffer

Yep, the video shows a accident in the making. But stomper could have practised more patience in future cos the videos also points out you did not totally stop at the stop line before turning. Put it this way, even if you have the right of way it doesnt protect you from the other reckless driver. Its better to anticipate & be prepared at all times because we do not know for sure what goes on in these people's brain (if they have any) And lastly your videos are blurry & fuzzy, you might consider upgrading to a better resolution cam cause details do matters in a situation. Seriously, our roads are not getting any safer by the days!

Stomper, I agree with JusticeIsBlind suggestion. This kind of driver cannot be allowed on the road else he/she will kill someone one day.

Stomper, you can send it in to the traffic police. If they find that the car is indeed at fault and the car plate is clear, they will find the culprit. Can't believe after the ferrari incident, so many lousy drivers are still beating red lights.
If you want to die, don't drag others along with you.
