STOMPer Gillian hopes more can be done to protect drivers whose vehicles are damaged by objects thrown out of HDB flats, after the rear windscreen of her car was damaged by a glass bottle thrown from a nearby flat.
This comes off the back of a similar incident where the rear windscreen of another STOMPer's car was 'completely smashed and destroyed' by a black stone.
The STOMPer wrote:
"With regards on a post 'Neighbour throw stones down on man's parked car, smashing windscreen' posted on 23 Feb by a STOMPer.
"I was a victim too -- someone actually threw a glass bottle out from their unit and hit the rear windscreen of my car.
"I reported it to the police and was told, a few months after, that no visible fingerprints could be found -- case closed!
"Worst of all, I had to settle all the damages by myself as my insurance agent told me that this incident is considered 'hit & found' and that is not covered under my comprehensive policy.
"This incident is of no fault of mine yet I still have to fork out money.
"I also wrote in to the Marine Parade Town Council and other relevant authorities and even went to meet my MP about this.
"Moving forward, is there anything we can do to stop irresponsible people from throwing litter out of their window? It is alarming to read about killer litter being thrown out from flats on high floors.
