No 'welfare'? Foreign workers sleep on void deck floor like homeless people

STOMPer MyMelody felt bad for these workers sleeping on the bare concrete floor of this void deck in Jurong. She wonders why they were not provided with proper shelter.

The STOMPer described the situation:

"Groups of foreign workers have been sleeping at void deck of below Block 649b and Block 648b of Jurong West Street 61.

"This was discovered since beginning of January. I wonder if they are overstayers or being abused by their employers who did not provide them with the appropriate shelters.

"I have called town council to highlight this. Can someone please help these workers?"

Looking at the picture, I believe they are taking the afternoon nap after lunch which is very normal.. Stomper if you have the chance you should take a walk in a shipyard which you will see them lying around during lunch at workshops & stipulated rest area.. For a mere $16/day I believe this 30mins of rest is not too much to ask for..

And yes, they do like sitting on grass to eat, sleep, chat and even drink beer during their off days as most of them are from rural area in indian working on farms.. Hence they are used to the natural environment..

OMG $18 a DAY that's slavery even my gardener who cuts my grass in 20Minutes get paid AUD$85.My heart goes out to them ~ You just cannot treat any Human Being like animal regardless of whoever they are.

Agree with GuessWhat2. I also know of India colleagues who like to be in nature surroundings day n night whenever possible. They also would eat at the grass area during lunch.

Stomper Mymelody, can you be clear in your post. Are they resting like mid day. Or they sleep there at night. If they are sleep there day and night plse inform MOM and Police and Transient Workers group.

they like nature? actually you dun understand Indians, they do like sleeping with nature around them and eat on green grass sometimes. Not everywhere is like Singapore
