PUB has stated that the debris in the drain at 34 Lorong 33 has been removed, and that the contractor has covered it up with planks. This is in response to STOMPer Mark's post that stated that the drain was filled debris from a nearby construction site.
A PUB spokesperson said:
"We refer to the posting on STOMP: 'Construction debris dumped into drain' (06 Feb).
"The drain at 34 Lorong 33 Geylang is no longer in use.
"A new drain has been built, and it is currently in use.
"The debris has been removed from the disused drain.
"The contractor is in the process of filling up the drain with soil to make it level and this will be completed by next month.
"In the meantime, the contractor has covered up the disused drain with planks to prevent the public from accidentally stepping into it.
"Members of the public can call the PUB 24-hour Call Centre at 1800-2846600 to provide feedback."
