STOMPer Religionist's neighbours at Bukit Batok burnt offerings on the 9th day of Lunar New Year, but they did it in the middle of the road, leaving behind a mess and damaging the road.
Said the STOMPer:
"These pictures were taken near Block 288G, Bt Batok St 25.
"On the 9th day of the Lunar New Year, Hokkien Chinese usually burn clumps of sugarcane as a traditional and cultural practice.
"However some residents in our estate have chosen to burn the sugarcanes on the estate roads and leave the mess behind.
"The roads are damaged and the foreign cleaners have extra jobs to do.
"The town council has provided proper bins for burning incense and joss papers but some residents have chosen to burn their papers on the road.
"I hope the town council will advise residents to burn their joss papers in the receptacles provided.
"We want a clean estate and not one where residents can burn anything wherever they like."
