Mall under renovation, so coffeeshop simply shifts to void deck across the road

STOMPer Michael was intrigued to find that a coffeeshop had set up shop at a HDB void deck in Hougang.

Says the STOMPer:

"I had lunch at a coffeeshop at a HDB void deck near Hougang Avenue 9, opposite the old Hougang Point (now known as Hougang Festival Market).

"I think the coffeeshop from the old Hougang Point moved to the void deck, as the mall is under renovation.

"I recognized some of the coffeeshop vendors from the old coffeeshop.

"I think the coffeeshop rented the void deck space; I've never seen anything like this before.

"It was rather noisy though, and I'm wondering if the noise will affect the residents of the block."

At Redhill market a coffeeshop blatantly site their tables all over walkwaysland rest places. What have you got to say Town Council?

I am one of the resident who stay above the coffeeshop. I think it is good to a have an eatery around our area. Before this coffeeshop, we have to walk 15-20mins to the nearest coffeeshop at blk 600+.
As of the noise level, I do not think it is unbearable. As it closed at 9.30pm daily.

This maybe a new norm, can collect good rent from renting out void decks rather than ZERO dollars all year round.
The noise from morning till late at night will come with it too.

YES,this is a first in singapore. it's to help the stall owners continue to run their business and the residents in that area continue to benefit from having affordable eateries in that area. I remembered i saw in the news that since they are operating at the void deck,they have different restriction on the operation time and discarding of the waste
