A STOMPer saw a supermarket trolley chained to a door below a Choa Chu Kang block of flats. The STOMPer suspects the trolley was being used by a cleaner. NTUC FairPrice staff have since been sent to investigate the matter, said a spokesperson.
Said Ms Angela Soo, Director, Corporate Communications, NTUC FairPrice, in a response:
"We refer to a STOMP posting titled 'Why is NTUC trolley chained to door below Choa Chu Kang block?' by STOMPer TP on 17 January 2012.
"We would like to thank the STOMPer and others who have reported FairPrice trolleys found at void decks and other places beyond our store premises.
"The act is inconsiderate and should not be encouraged. We have since dispatched our staff to investigate this matter.
"We take the opportunity to remind shoppers not to wheel our trolleys to their residences. Such actions not only inconvenience others but also pose as a safety hazard.
"We hope to encourage all STOMPers to help us by encouraging other shoppers to return the trolleys after use so that the next person gets to use it too.
"We are confident that, given that the majority of shoppers are doing the right thing, by influencing and encouraging others to do so as well, we can create an even more pleasant shopping experience for everyone.
"Thank you."
it is totally ridiciouous that those people can gets off scot-free.
As for scanning of IC to loan a trolley, it will create another problem of IC details security, how save that Supermarket can ensure that their customers' IC details will not leak out to criminals like current banking issue?
It ends up that no one will loan the trolley, thus it automatically solved the problem of losing trolley in the end, izit? Hahaa
