A dustbin that was set on fire at Yishun Street 21 Block 201, has made STOMPer Night Owl concerned about the safety of the residents there and wonders if there may be a serial arsonist on the loose.
Said the STOMPer:
"Multiple cases of arson around Yishun Street 21, between blocks 201 to 204.
"Someone deliberately set fire to a paper box at the exercise ground at Block 201.
"At approximately 1.30am, I was enjoying my beer at the senior citizens exercise corner when I saw a group of policemen and firefighters arriving on the scene.
"To my surprise, I saw a box on the ground which was on fire.
"Civil Defence personnel were busy putting the fire out.
"Later after interacting with a police officer on the scene, I found out that the object on fire was tin can containing flammable material.
"Who the hell has done this?
"Anyone who is around this area, perhaps returning after work or a party, do help to keep a lookout.
"Even now, while I'm at home, the police are still combing the area.
"Hopefully, the culprit will be caught soon.
"This seems to be a major incident, since both Yishun North and South police divisions have been activated.
"Kudos to the Police and Civil Defence."
An SCDF spokesperson said:
"We received a call at 1.35am, Jan 9, 2012, that there was a fire at Block 203,Yishun Street 21.
"When we arrived on the location, we realised that there were multiple fires going on.
"Block 201 and 204 each had a dustbin that was on fire, and Block 203 had a dustbin and a discarded item on fire.
"A fire engine, a Red Rhino and two fire bikes responded to the call.
"The SCDF personnel extinguished the fire within five minutes of arrival.
"The case is still being investigated."
Kudos to Police, but a big KPO mouth to u!
