NEA officers found several rat burrows in the area around Hougang Avenue 8 Blocks 674 to 676, after acting on a tip-off by STOMPer Eric Tan.
The Aljunied-Hougang Town Council has since deployed pest control contractors to remove the infestation.
NEA told STOMP:
"NEA takes a serious view of any reported rodent infestation in Singapore.
"Acting on the posting, our officers have since surveyed the common areas in the vicinity of Blocks 674 to 676 Hougang Avenue 8 and found several rat burrows in the area.
"We have alerted Aljunied-Hougang Town Council of the findings. The town council has since followed up by deploying its pest control operator to treat the burrows and eradicate the rats.
"We have also advised the town council to improve on the refuse management and sanitation of the area. NEA will continue to monitor the situation and conduct audit checks.
