Shouts and quarrels as people jam up outside ICA building

There were shouts and quarrels with ICA building security staff as a crowd of about a hundred people were not permitted to enter the building during opening hours.

STOMPer bleu filmed this video at about 4pm today (Mar 12) and told STOMP:

“I went there to collect my passport and there seemed to be a huge crowd of people waiting outside and we were not allowed to enter the building.

“I was there for about 15 minutes but I have no idea what was going on.

“It was like chaos there.”

The stupid counters are in the first place insufficent causing all the waiting.If they think that manpower is insufficent,i don see why they cant hire more people to cope with the crowded situation. I dread going to ICA and wait for almost 1 and a half hour waiting like a fool.

first when you chose to be a civil servant in the uniform group don expect to have "life"....to do some OT just during the peak period weeks will not be so serious to affect officers's life i suppose......don be so defensives...

I dont think it is fair to ask the ICA staff to stay beyond the earthly office hours just to serve the kiasu and kiam siap Singaporeans who do things last min. I believed many of those in the queue had wait till days before they need to travel before rushing down to ica. I know of friends who wait till last min just to save on that few days or months to max the passport duration. This kind of mentality is the cause of this mad rush... dun put the blame on govt agency just bcos of sporeans' selfish nature. Spare a thot for the ica officers who also have family to return to. Just becos they are providing a public service doesnt mean that they dun have a life!

not surprisingly. crowd control is lacking there even the normal moring opening hours. the CISCO in white needs training.

What a mess beyond control... the place is always in confusion even on non-peak season.... directions over-lapping...
Hope the authority can engage a Specialist to re-look & re-organise the directions of the procedures again... & not take for granted that people who visit ICA once in a blue moon would know where is Step 1, Step 2, Step 3...etc...of the procedure.

This is the societal unrest created by our own government which it is time for them to review the policy. Singapore has a prestigious reputation overseas will be tarnished by these foreign migrants soon.
