This STOMPer was wearing a T-shirt showcasing the Merlion and the Singapore logo when holidaying in Hawaii. Many people asked him about Singapore, giving him the chance to promote the country.
STOMPer Gamaliel Sunico told us in an email today (Feb 10):
"My wife and I just came from a week's holiday in Hawaii (Jan 30th - Feb 06) to visit our daughter who just gave birth to a cute angel Baby Avery. During our tour around the Island and in the shopping malls, everyone noticed the Singapore T-shirt I was wearing.
"That t-shirt opened up some friendly talk. People asked about Singapore and this gave me the opportunity to talk and promote Singapore.
"First as a clean and litter free city, where environmental awareness is a priority with zero emission from vehicles. I just told them, Singapore is must to see where everyone would fall in love with.
"As a foreign worker here in Singapore, I believe it is everyone's duty to complement and reciprocate the hospitality accorded by the people of Singapore to foreign workers like me.
"And one of the most effective "pay back tool" is whenever you travel to a foreign country, always wear a Singapore T-shirt. By wearing one you are an ambassador promoting Singapore as a country that needs to be visited and explored.
"Wearing a Singapore T-shirt during your tour makes a diffence and it makes you proud of the country where you are working while at the same time you are able to promote tourism for Singapore."
