STOMPer Deepak was shocked when he looked out of his window and saw thick black smoke surrounding Blk 2019 at Bukit Batok St 23.
In an email to STOMP today (Jan 26), the STOMPer says:
“There is very heavy dark black smoke around ITE West College at Bukit Batok.
“The pictures were taken from my flat at Bukit Batok Blk 254 at about 10am.
“It looks like there is a very big fire. The smoke was black, then white, and now it’s black again.
“I can see SCDF personnel on their way there.”
STOMPer P, who also observed the thick smoke, sent in a video of the fire.
The STOMPer says:
“A Bukit Batok industrial building was on fire.
“2-storey high flames could be seen from a flat at Toh Guan Road on the 17th floor."
According to the SCDF, the fire broke out at a flatted factory at Blk 2019 Bukit Batok St 23.
SCDF resources were immediately dispatched to the incident site. Upon arrival, fire was found raging from a ground unit of the flatted factory. The affected premises deal in electrical products.
SCDF firefighters set up a total of 8 water jets and prevented the fire from spreading to the neighbouring units. Firefighters donning breathing apparatus sets brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
There were no casualties, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
UPZ for SCDF!!!
