AMK Hub housed the largest cupcake tower in Singapore, and this feat made it into the Singapore Book of Records.
A public relations representative for this effort says:
"AMK Hub successfully made an entry into the Singapore Book of Records once again, this time with Singapore’s largest cupcake tower!
"The cupcake tower was showcased at the launch of the mall’s second anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 5th September 2009.
"Standing at an impressive 3.2m, the cupcake tower was a result of a collaboration between AMK Hub and the Baking Industry Training Centre (BITC), Singapore's first national full-fledged accredited baking training centre.
"Baking and decorating the chocolate and vanilla flavoured cupcakes for the tower took almost 25 chefs 10 hours to complete.
"The result was a colourful tower comprising 2,222 beautifully decorated cupcakes, which was inducted into the Singapore Book of Records under the category 'Largest Cupcake Structure'.
"With this feat, AMK Hub has successfully made its second entry into the Singapore Book of Records after its successful attempt to bake, assemble and decorate Singapore’s largest birthday cake during its first anniversary celebrations last year.
"Not only did the cupcakes feed the stomachs of shoppers, they also fed their souls with shoppers eagerly snapping up the cupcakes in exchange for a donation of any amount to AMK Hub’s adopted charity, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
"Although the cupcakes from the tower were sold out in approximately four hours, shoppers will still be able to purchase a pair of cupcakes from AMK Hub’s Basement One Exhibition Hall on 12th and 13th September 2009 for just $2 and decorate them.
"The record-breaking cupcake tower is one of the highlights of AMK Hub’s second anniversary which includes other activities such as performances, games and charity auctions. AMK Hub’s second anniversary celebrations started on 4th September 2009 and will run till 18th October 2009."
