Getai-goers bring their mahjong game to Jurong East show: Did they have permit?

STOMPer Ex gambler noticed that people were playing mahjong at a getai performance held at Jurong East last night. The STOMPer wonders if mahjong is allowed at such events.

Said the STOMPer:

"These pictures were taken last night at Jurong East St 32 where a getai was held to entertain the residents of this area.

"At least two thousand people came to watch the performance put up by singers from Malaysia and Indonesia.

"The crowd was mesmerised by the singers dressed in scanty sequinned costumes and the LED psychedelic rotating lighting.

"Like a typical Chinese funeral, there were some residents who came to play mahjong and not to watch the show.

"Is mahjong allowed at a getai and was a police permit obtained?"
