SCDF servicemen smoke and drink in 'half-uniform' at Yishun coffeeshop

STOMPer Heavenonearth was appalled to see a group of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel, dressed in vest and slacks, smoking and drinking at a coffeeshop in Yishun.

The STOMPer wrote:

"Saw a group of SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force) personnel smoking and drinking openly at the coffee shop at Block 925, just beside the Yishun bus interchange.

"From what I can remember during my time doing National Service, such things are intolerable -- you either go into the detention barracks or get into some serious trouble.

"Has the regimentation slackened that much?"

In light of this incident, the SCDF has revealed that they are investigating the matter and will take disciplinary action on the individuals concerned.

A spokesperson for the SCDF wrote:

"SCDF has clear guidelines whereby its personnel are not allowed to smoke or drink in public while in uniform.

"SCDF takes a serious view of this matter and is investigating. Appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken towards the individuals concerned."
