STOMPer James wanted a haircut, so he went to a hair salon which was still open yet had no customers. He sat down in a chair but not only was he ignored by the foreign hairdresser, she shouted at him to come another day as she was busy chatting on the phone.
The STOMPer recounted the incident:
"'Foreign talent' refused to serve customer because chatting over the phone was more important.
"I visited a hair salon in Upper Boon Keng Road. The shop was empty without customers, and the hairdresser was over at the counter chit-chatting on the phone.
"I sat on the chair and waited for a few minutes, thinking she would stop and trim my hair as I felt it was impolite to interrupt her call.
"The shop was still operating as it was still early and the door signage indicated 'OPEN'.
"Through her phone chat, I am pretty sure she was a Malaysian due to her accent.
"Five minutes later, I went over telling her that I was waiting. She dismissed me, gestured at me to go away and continued chatting on the phone.
"I waited longer and gestured to her that I was still waiting for her. She snapped and shouted at me to come another day and to stop disturbing her, pointing to the door.
"I left angrily. I was quite shocked by the service of these foreign talents these days.
"Singapore gives these people opportunities, jobs and housing. The Singaporean guys serve NS to protect these people, yet why does even a hairdresser foreign talent behave so arrogantly? Do we owe them money?"
