Got service or not?
Such a hassle to connect to Changi Airport's Wi-Fi, but in HK it's so easy

STOMPer Lin feels the Wi-Fi network at Changi Airport can be improved as it is not user friendly and weak. The STOMPer cites examples of the better Wi-Fi networks at other airports like Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

Said the STOMPer:

"Our Changi Airport might be one of the best airports in the world, but I think that the Wi-Fi network at Changi Airport really cannot make it as compared with other competitive international airports elsewhere.

"I am not sure about the rest, but I seriously feel that the airport Wi-Fi network is so user-UNfriendly, troublesome, weak and lousy.

"In order to connect to the Wi-Fi network, I have to walk around and look for the customer service counter to get a piece of paper with the username and password.

"After that, it took me a while to connect my iPhone or laptop to the Wi-Fi network. After connection, I realised that the connection is so weak and lousy that I can't even make a Skype or Viber call.

"I can't even watch any video on YouTube due to the poor connection. Worst of all, the Wi-Fi connection keeps disconnecting. In the end, I gave up and switched it back to my own reliable 3G network.

"How about those foreign visitors who don't have local 3G connection on their mobile phones?

"It was really a very disappointing experience for me and I have heard from some foreign friends who had the same bad Wi-Fi experience at Changi Airport.

"I have been to HK airport, Dubai airport, KL airport, etc and these airports' Wi-Fi network is so easy to use and the Wi-Fi speed is still okay that I can make a Skype voice call.

"I really hope that Changi Airport can do something about it soon. I seriously wonder when was the last time our Changi Airport did the check on the user-friendliness level and reliability of the Wi-Fi connection in most areas of Changi Airport."

the wifi is mainly for the travelers in the transit area. it is already a bonus for the public of the presence of wifi. what more can you want? you dont pay for the wireless. for those with no 3g, there are tons of computers in the transit area for the travelers to use. they are meant mainly for the travelers. imagine they are free for the public, then how many people will come to airport and use them? think about it. then airport will become a market.

Unfortunately, free service attracts freeloaders..which includes some of u. Cannot connect, complain. Slow connection, complain. Then call it bad service. Then post in Stomp. If there's such an urgency for u to connect to Internet, why rely on free wifi? U already have 3G don't u..? Even the Internet booths have a 15mins timeout just so to accommodate others who also wants to use the service. Can't check in FB can die is it? Pfffffttt...

True la, ours is always one step behind ...

when I got there, I also couldn't believe it's down to 1 tiny piece of crappy paper. If Changi dropped in rating, I believe ...
