A Sheng Shiong supermarket spokesperson has clarified that the date indicated on the packets of bamboo shoots is actually the production date, and not the expiry date.
The spokesperson is responding to STOMPer groceryman's concern that the supermarket was selling packets of bamboo shoots that had expired for two months.
Said the Sheng Shiong representative:
"We wish to clarify that the date captured in the photo was the production date, NOT the expiry date.
"In the product description, there is a line that states that the product’s shelf life is 12 months (from the date of production).
"However, we note that the language used on the packaging is Chinese.
"To prevent further misunderstanding or any inconvenience to our customers, we will check with our supplier to improve on the product description."
