Always check expiry date: Vegetables in supermarket stale for 2 months

STOMPer groceryman was concerned to see packets of bamboo shoots selling in a supermarket which had expired for two months. Some packets were also clearly mouldy.

Said the STOMPer (Sep 25):

"A bunch of expired bamboo shoots was found on the shelves of the supermarket Sheng Siong.

"How can they serve such food and some packets have clearly turned mouldy.

"Is this the standard of hygiene that consumers recieve?

"This packet of bamboo shoots expired in July!

"I would expect more from a respected house brand like Sheng Shiong.

"I have alerted the staff about the expired goods and hope that this would be the last time I see such items in the supermarket"
