STOMPer Passenger Police feels that bus drivers should polish up on their service so that they will be more deserving of their titles as 'bus captains'.
Said the STOMPer:
"Many times, I witness fare-distance discrepancies happening in a flash, only to revert to the correct value after some time when the bus entry doors have opened for about three seconds.
"It is a technical issue inherent in the fare system, but it's not a good excuse to sabotage passengers who are tapping out in the correct way.
"Bus drivers are always at fault for not recognising the discrepancy and alerting passengers.
"I am always the one who have to tell them off and receive a hopeless reply from them: 'system fault, we cannot do anything'.
"Please work with SBS Transit to train their drivers how to handle the fare system professionally.
"The integrity of the system lies in their hands.
"Their titles are known as 'BUS CAPTAINS' for SBS Transit, and 'SERVICE LEADERS' for SMRT.
"The titles make them sound professional, but in fact, they just function as simple-minded drivers who knows how to catch fare-cheats and drive in a random speed mode."
