Check expiry date before you buy! Chocolates turn out to be mouldy

STOMPer skytsengel is annoyed that a Plaza Singapura store sold her mouldy chocolate that was going to expire in just three days on Aug 28.

Said the STOMPer:

"I brought this chocolate from Guardian in Plaza Singapura yesterday (Aug 25).

"When I open it, I received a shock to see that it's mouldy.

"I checked the expiry date and it's Aug 28, 2011.

"How can Guardian sell food items that's going to expire in three days!"

Yes. It's the store responsibility to ensure the product sold is not expired yet. However, for failing to check yourself, you now have to bring back to the store, show proof of purchase and make the claim. Better to ensure before actual payment.

Better luck next time.

Return it to the store with your receipt and demand a refund.
It is not consumer's fault by not checking expiry date. It is the store's policy to check and make sure the product in the store it is selling is not in bad condition
and that it has not expired.
In your case, the store has failed to do so. IF you don't have the receipt, bring it to store and let them know the date you bought
it and the store will have a copy of receipt from its cash register system of the date you had purchased the chocolate. Demand your right for refund.
I would.
