A STOMPer says this Cheers employee, a Chinese national, made a nasty comment about Singaporeans after a minor misunderstanding. The STOMPer had left exact change for her drink on the counter and was about to leave, only to be scolded by the woman.

The STOMPer related the incident:

"I find it unacceptable for us in Singapore to tolerate such rude behaviour as it would only tarnish the good image of Singapore.

"It all happened at the Cheers outlet near the Istana, Dhoby Ghaut.

"I was getting a drink and this China national cashier ignored my presence just because I queued towards the side, so she went on to serve three others behind me.

"After the three left I kept my cool and placed the exact change on the counter. She took my drink so thinking she'd already keyed it in, I took the drink and left.

"The cashier shouted at me loudly in Chinese: 'people in this country are brainless, just grab things and leave'.

"There was 2 other customers who heard this and smiled at me. I was utterly embarrassed!

"The shouting and harsh words were very uncalled for!

"Can Cheers please discipline your cashiers? As a customer, I was made to feel really embarrassed, and it ruined my day!"
