STOMPer Yumiko had to endure spoilt food, marauding flies and bad service at this restaurant at Ang Mo Kio Hub. The clincher - there were no dessert spoons because the manager had forgotten them.
In an email today the STOMPer related the experience.
"I invited my friend to Shabu-Shi at AMK Hub for a birthday treat.
"We were told to sit facing the sushi belt as the main tables were for three or more persons, so I called one of my friends to have dinner with us.
"So we told staff there that my friend would arrive later and request to sit at the main dining table, as there were many empty seats around.
"We were ordering food when an employee asked us if two hours were enough for us. Apparently it's their standard for guests. So we had to rush through dinner.
"We also found that their fish cake had turned bad. When we made it known to the staff there none of them apologized for it.
"We then notice that there were flies in the drink. Once more when we informed the staff there they didn't apologise but kept smiling.
"While having our dessert, we were searching for dessert spoons and were told that their boss went for dinner, did not bring the dessert spoons to the shop and asked if it was ok that we used soup spoons for dessert.
"We were so disappointed with the service and standard of hygiene . I was particularly embarrassed because I was the one giving the treat.
"I hope the authorities will check on the food hygiene there and someone will give us an explanation."

I ever visited this restaurant at AMK Hub too, only the elderly auntie is friendly, I like her service. Too bad they do not have name tag on them. Keep up with the good service auntie.
