Keeping in mind STOMPer Rose's unpleasant dining experience at the Eighteen Chefs restaurant, STOMPer Ester decided to try the place out herself. Her conclusion: Thumbs up for food, ambience, price, and service.

STOMPer Ester said in an email to STOMP on Mar 13:

"In the hot and humid weather, I started having some allergic problems and puffy eyes. Too tired to cook or go to the office, I decided to dine out.

"I still remember what STOMPer Rose had posted about Eighteen Chefs, so I decided to dine there (Yishun Branch).

"Once I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the service staffs' warm smiles. I found a quiet corner table, decided what I wanted to eat after going through the menu.

"Wrote down the orders on the order sheet, went to the cashier and paid. Very friendly guys - the first time I dined there, there was a big hooha as I did not know how the order sheet worked.

"The service staff had come over after seeing me in a daze. Very patiently, he went through the steps to assist me in the order.

"The food came in less than 5 minutes. Very fast, considering that the restaurant was half filled with customers at that moment.

"Despite having little appetite, I ordered a baked pasta, onion rings and coke light to eat before taking my medication. The food was so nice that I finished everything, yum yum.



"Eighteen Chefs is the only restaurant in Singapore that hires ex-convicts. And Eighteen Chefs is a restaurant without prejudice and discrimination.

"The food is good, the place is clean and cosy. Price is very very reasonable for a very decent meal. The staff are friendly and helpful.

"Even the restaurant practices self service: they will remind you to collect the fork and spoons etc...

"After my nice lunch, I concluded that I will still dine there again and recommend the place to my friends."
