Got service or not?
Restaurant still charged me for tuna sashimi I rejected

STOMPer Hui Shan is unhappy that a sushi restaurant at Hougang Plaza has charged her for tuna sashimi which she had rejected. The STOMPer had rejected the sashimi because "the cutting was wrong and the raw fish was in bad shape."

In her email dated Jan 18:

"I dined at a sushi restaurant located at Hougang Plaza, on 23 December 2009; I was having the dinner buffet with my friends.

"We ordered a plate of maguro (tuna) sashimi, a dish which was included in your extensive menu.

"I approached a waitress and rejected the plate of sashimi after some time as the cutting was wrong and the raw fish were in bad shape. The waitress came back in a short while and asked on the problem again. I informed her that I had rejected the plate of sashimi as it is unacceptable.

"The captain on duty approached us minutes later and insisted that the maguro sashimi is satisfactory and that it is supposed to be this way.

"Once again, I repeated and confirmed that the cutting of the raw fish is wrong.

"The captain should not have insisted that she was right while I was wrong. She was like forcing me to accept a dish I did not want anymore.

"I told her that I will write a complaint letter to the senior management as she did not handle the problem well. She mumbled a half-hearted 'sorry' before walking away.

"The plate of sashimi was still placed on the table after the incident

"The plate was left as it is when we approached the cashier. We were charged $5.99 for the plate of maguro sashimi without being informed at the cashier.

"This had left me fuming. We had to pay for the unacceptable plate of food left untouched?

"This is absurd! I just paid and left the restaurant without uttering a second word.

"I have worked in a Japanese restaurant before and I am sure that the sashimi which was not cut properly must be replaced immediately, with no questions asked.

"I hope that this will not happen at your food establishment again as I am a frequent customer at the restaurant.

"It really left a bad impression on my friends and me. The incident ruined my dinner date and Christmas mood."

It is not a big deal. If u don like the cutting then look for another restuarant to please your cutting. No two persons are the same. Similiarly no 2 chefs have the same cutting. Dont talk about the cutting. Talk about the food and taste that matter. Looking at the poor people in some poor countries went without food every day. Here you r complaing of cutting. Stop your snobbist character and let the chefs make the living. Ur day will come when you face yourself int the rubbish dump digging for foods.

lol, i find it funny how u only approached them after sometimes. As u said the cutting is wrong u should hav approach them the 1st sec u saw it. Of course they would charge u even thou u didnt eat it, cuz sashimi suppose to b eat right away wen it fresh. Thou u dont wan it but u wait until y'all finished everythin and tell them...even me wouldnt except that. If u tell them earlier they might able to change it for u...Plus dus the cuttin make the taste different?? Quit complainin over stupid little things like this

I agree that food must be prepared correcly before serving if its not prepared even if 1 cut is wrong customers have MUST have the right to reject the food.

I'd been to this restaurant once. Never like their service and the food. It's Sakae Sushi, unless it has been changed.
